About Tagspot
Tagspot is a collaborative license-plate spotting game for road trips. Start a trip, share its 6-character code with everyone riding along, and spot plates together as you drive — points are scored by how rare a plate is and how far its home state is from wherever you happen to be.
There's no account to create. Opening Tagspot for the first time quietly sets up an anonymous identity on your device so a trip's history sticks around for you, without ever asking for a sign-up.
Who's behind it
Tagspot is developed by Brad as an independent, small side project — not run by a company. We're a family that still does the traditional family road trip: thousands of miles, multiple cities, a week or more on the road, a couple hundred miles some days just to get to the next stop. The license plate game is a road-trip staple in a car like that — but every app I tried for it just didn't cut it, so I figured I could do better.
That turned into Tagspot: real maps instead of a mental tally, everyone in the car (or across multiple cars) playing the same live board instead of shouting across the back seat, and scoring built around rarity and distance so a plate is worth more than just a checkmark. The goal was never to reinvent the game — it's still the classic license plate game everyone already knows — just to make it more than a list.
