Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Tagspot doesn't use traditional accounts, so most of this policy is about anonymous, device-level data rather than anything tied to your real-world identity.
What's stored on your device
When you first open Tagspot, your browser is given a random, anonymous identity (no email or personal info required). Your spotter name, color, current trip, and a short list of recently-played trips are saved in your browser's local storage so the game remembers you on your next visit. A small session cookie keeps that anonymous identity working across visits — it's functional, not a tracking cookie.
What's stored on our servers
For each trip you join, we store:
- The trip's code and name
- Your chosen spotter name and color
- The license plates spotted, with a timestamp, linked to your anonymous device identity
None of this is linked to your real name, address, or any other personal information unless you choose to add one below.
Optional recovery email
You can optionally link an email address to your device identity so you can recover your trip history if you lose the device or clear your browser. We use that address only to send you a one-time sign-in link when you request device recovery — never for marketing, and never shared with anyone else. You can request it be removed at any time (see Contact below).
Advertising
Tagspot shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more about how Google uses this data, and opt out of personalized advertising, at Google's Ads & Data policy or through Google Ads Settings.
Children's privacy
Tagspot is a family road-trip game, but it isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them — no name, birthdate, or contact info is ever required to play.
Your choices
Clearing your browser's storage and cookies ends your local Tagspot identity. To request that server-side data tied to your identity (including a linked recovery email) be deleted, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
